Halloween 2018

NHA Halloween 2018

Halloween came early to New Hope Academy this year. On Friday, October 26, 2018, students and staff marked the holiday by dressing up in a wide range of costumes – there were unicorns, ghosts, nerds, and plenty of old people. At a co-campus celebration, cash prizes were awarded to the students whose costumes were a cut above the rest. Among the winners were “Cutest Couple” Stephanie Garafolo and Devon Hamilton, as Dorothy and The Scarecrow from “The Wizard of Oz”; Mary Ziff, who won “Funniest” for dressing as the dog from the classic video game “Duck Hunt”; Gabby Eddy, who won “Most Undead” as Beetlejuice; Bryan Burke, who won “Most Detailed” as Tony Stark (aka Iron-Man); and Finn Hopkins, who won “Creepiest.” Even the teachers shared in the fun! A group of teachers dressed as old people, complete with walkers and canes, and physics teacher Jack Alvino wowed the crowd and delighted the students with his scary likeness to rapper Post Malone. After dining on pizza for lunch, students enjoyed the afternoon by reading the latest edition of “The Real Deal,” NHA’s student-produced newspaper, watching the movie “Coraline,” and playing music. There was even a space reserved for photos that featured a spooky backdrop. Combined with free candy, a stellar bake sale courtesy of the Prom Committee, and a special treat for all who dressed in costume, it was a frightfully enjoyable day for all!
