Science Olympiad Team

On March 1, 12 students from New Hope Academy participated in the Southeast PA Regional Science Olympiad competition at Neumann University. The Science Olympiad, an international nonprofit organization, features tournaments comprised of rigorous academic interscholastic competitions. The competitions consist of a series of individual and team events, which students prepare for during the school year. These challenging and motivational events are balanced among the various science disciplines of biology, earth science, chemistry, physics, computers, and technology.

The students competed against 36 other high schools and participated in 12 of the 23 events, the most NHA has ever entered. The events were: Electric Vehicle; Towers; Rocks and Minerals; Hovercraft; Forensics; Astronomy; Write It, Do It; Anatomy and Physiology; Game On; Microbe Mission; Optics; and Chemistry Lab. The top finishes came from Electric Vehicle, where they placed 7th, and Towers, where they placed 13th.

The science teachers would like to thank the students for the hard work and dedication they’ve put in since the beginning of the school year and honor them for their achievements. We look forward to next year’s competition season!
