On May 5th, some Yardley students got to tour Bucks County Community College in Newtown, PA. When we first arrived at the college, we all thought, “Wow this is a big college to be a community college!” As the tour of the campus started, we learned that the reason that it was so big was because it used to be a mansion. Then we talked about the ways in which we can learn and get help with Bucks online. On the tour, we were shown the main lobby, where they have a picture of the lady who donated her mansion, and it’s super creepy because her eyes follow you!! Then, we were shown the culinary program. During the tour, we were able to see into many of the different classrooms and locations of the campus. We saw the old servants’ quarters, which are now used for different offices; the Orangery, which is where they used to grow orange trees, where they have the theaters; the pool and gym areas, which is where the yoga rooms are located, and the libraries. We also went through the most beautiful garden on the tour. These are just a few of the places that were shown to us.
