With a school filled with raw talent, it should serve as no surprise that New Hope Academy creates multiple out-of-school events for students to showcase their abilities, with one
of these being the annual Art Show. Led by the Art Department for both the Yardley and Doylestown campuses, the Art Show creates a safe environment for all student work, whether it was made by an amateur or a seasoned artist.
At 7:00 p.m. on May 23, families and friends gathered at the Yardley campus, and from there were invited to walk all around the east wing to see hundreds of pieces of student artwork. The flexible Art curriculum at NHA allows students to create whatever their heart desires, such as sculptures, paintings, collages, drawings, and many more eccentric pieces. Everything was on display at the Art Show, from conventional paintings to projects made of paper mache.
Jen Miller and Jeanne Nahill, two Yardley art teachers, stated that they believed that this was really “one of the best art shows yet,” and that everything flowed “cohesively”. English teacher, Leigh Greacen also took the opportunity to showcase the brand new Chrysalis, a student-run and created poetry magazine that features various poetry and artworks made by students. “This was the first time we featured the Chrysalis at the Art Show,” Greacen states. It was the perfect way to bring together our talented students’ creative writing and visual artwork. It was great to engage with families who were able to appreciate their students’ creative abilities.”
With a comfortable ambience made by the musical talents of Cameron Stahl and Chris Cinalli, the night proved to be a total success for the Art Department, and had many students excited and thinking about what kind of art they’d be creating next.
