Six Flags Math and Physics Trip

On April 24th, NHA’s Pre-Calculus, Calculus, and Physics students went to Six Flags Great Adventure to participate in its annual Math and Physics Day. Students started the day off by competing in the Egg Drop of Doom. In the weeks leading up to the trip, teams of students built containers to protect their eggs from a twenty-three story drop. NHA’s six teams all had successful drops with no broken eggs. During the rest of the day, while riding the rides, students collected data on the forces acting upon riders by calculating the velocities and heights of riders at certain points on the rides. Despite the wind and cold weather, all had a great time.
